Deborah Damilola

Deborah Abolarinwa is an African STARS fellow currently enrolled in an MSc in Bioinformatics of Infectious Diseases at CERI, Stellenbosch University, a microbiology graduate with experience in wet-lab microbial techniques, computational drug design, and structural biology. Her research interests include pathogen genomics, antimicrobial resistance, and the application of AI and machine learning for diagnostic and therapeutic innovation. She has led AMR advocacy initiatives that educate students on responsible antibiotic use. Deborah is committed to advancing innovative, data-driven solutions that strengthen disease surveillance, improve public health, and expand biotechnology capacity across Africa.
