Fekraddis Molla Yalew is an African STARS fellow currently enrolled for MSc in Bioinformatics of Infectious Diseases at CERI, Stellenbosch University, a lecturer in the Department of Biology at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. She holds a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Biotechnology. Growing up in Ethiopia, she witnessed the impact of infectious diseases, inspiring her commitment to scientific solutions. Her research on multidrug-resistant bacteria showed limits of conventional laboratory methods, motivating her to integrate bioinformatics. She aims to advance genomics-driven infectious disease research using bioinformatics to strengthen public health in Africa.
