Joicymara is a passionate educator and researcher with a multidisciplinary background in Information Systems, Computer Science, and Bioinformatics. Currently, she serves as an Assistent Professor at the Computing Division of the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA), Post-doctoral Fellow at CERI and Visiting Professor at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
Her work focuses on developing innovative solutions for disease surveillance and applying computational methods to investigate complex biological processes. With over a decade of experience in Information Technology, she has built expertise in project management, web development, software engineering, and software reliability, with a current emphasis on extracting insights from biological data using AI and data science.
Beyond academia, she is deeply committed to social impact. As a volunteer and co-founder of Código X, a social initiative based in Ouro Preto, Brazil, she works to inspire and empower young girls to pursue careers in technology, helping to break gender barriers in STEM. She is always open to connecting with professionals and organizations interested in using technology to address real-world challenges, particularly in health, research, and education.
